http://budurl.com/inurtown Vancouver plumber shows you how to solder a plumbing joint properly. Cut to length, clean the ends with sandpaper, cover with flux, heat and solder for a good seal.
If you are a handyman but could use a little help in the finer aspects of soldering then this is the right video for you. Its quite easy actually. Just watch this video a couple times if needed to get the points down.
Cut pipe to length — measure twice, cut once
Dry fit the pieces together to make sure everything looks good
Sand the adjoining pieces with sand cloth
Brush on the flux until ends are covered
Fit together and heat the joint for a few moments
Too much heat will discolor the pipe — avoid overheating
Touch the solder to the connection briefly and clean drips while still hot.
When finished, test for leaks by turning on the water
